The Sahara Force India VJM05, live from Silverstone

Episode 54 represents a milestone in the short life of The Flying Lap, for on this occasion we will be airing the show live from what will undoubtedly be a very chilly Silverstone - from the launch of the new Sahara Force India VJM05.  We'll be talking to some key SFI team members; examining the car with Craig Scarborough; and generally soaking-up the atmosphere of an F1 Team Launch, with plenty of questions to be answered from live viewers all over the world.  As well as procuring the biggest F1 sponsorship/investment deal of the past 12 months (thanks to their new association with Sahara, the massive Indian holding company until now best-known for its support of the national Indian cricket team) Force India made huge strides in 2011 against such opponents as AMG Mercedes, LotusF1 and WilliamsF1.  Paul di Resta raced sensationally through his debut season and in 2012 will be joined by the last man to put a Williams on the pole - Nico Hulkenberg.  And into the Third Driver slot steps one of the hottest young stars from the Ferrari Driver Academy - Jules Bianchi.

SHOW NOTES ANSWERED QUESTIONS
Rich Seitz Cincinnati | @rwseitz63

Do you think some teams are going to make changes based on what they see in the new RB8 next week.

Lisa and Gary USA

Hi Peter, How refreshing to hear Paul talk so plainly about his performance last year and his prospects for the 2012 season! How do you think he’ll fare against the mid-field pack with the new Force India?

Anil, Birmingham UK

come Australia, how different is the car going to be compared to the one that was launched today?

Darshan Chokhani, India | @DarshanChokhani

How did the shakedown at Silverstone went today? Last year it was a slow start, this year it seems it’s a go from the start from the team and so can we safely assume that you will score points more regularly and an odd podium?

Diane Cullimore-Peak District | @bodkin1

Paul there is a twitter account called @PaulDiRestaFans who are desperate to get an answer always trying to talk to you did you know about it?

Luke, Leicester

Peter, if neither are listening in, can you give your opinion on who will come out on top between Paul and Nico over 2012? A. Who will be fastest in qualifying over the season and B. Who will score the most points?

Adam, Leicester, United Kingdom

What will it take for Force India to become a championship winning team?

Bruno Rio de Janeiro | @BrunoRCabral

Are you free to give suggestions to McLaren or Mercedes or do you just use the gearbox/engine the way they make it?

Pete Englandland

Question for a force india team member. Is it possible to put a number in seconds per lap on the ammount of performance you would hope to gain from australia to brazil? or have gained in previous years.

Buster, London

What do you think will be the main area of development this year?

Shirleen Riffe/ Myrtle Beach South Carolina USA | @shirleenriffe

Heikki Kovalainen actully tweeted a question about the new cars this morning asking, "@jondee84: @H_Kovalainen What does the nose of the new cars do for driver visibility?more dificult now to gauge the front?”

Luke, Leicester

Force India’s new car looks even more tightly packaged than the McLaren, has smaller sidepod inlets and a “double” under-cut floor. Mean while Ferrari have gone radical and have multiple instances of innovation. Do you think McLaren could get caught out this season?

Nakul

How improved will Force India’s race pace be?
Last year we seemed to be struggling in the race against the Saubers and Torro Rosso’s

Buster from London | @Pigloo

What do we think we can expect from the RB8 having seen a few other car launches now. Will Adrians new car be an evolution of last year or a revolution?

Brian Kneis (New York City) | @clustr1

Do you think the pressure to succeed at Ferrari has become a hindrance to success? The mood at Ferrari is clearly, we MUST win because we are Ferrari. Conversely, Mclaren seem to act as if they WILL succeed because they are Mclaren. Pressure vs. Confidence.

Bruno Rio de Janeiro | @BrunoRCabral

Will McLaren front nose be better then the “step-ed” nose from other teams?

Bruno Rio de Janeiro | @BrunoRCabral

Will McLaren front nose be better then the “step-ed” nose from other teams?

abbas aboubakr , Algeria

Question about the nose of the cars and which one is the best , the McLaren type or the duck type , and thank you for the great show

Jake from Kent

With Ferrari’s “flat forehead”, what is the advantage of that over ones with a sculpted middle like FI and Caterham? It doesn’t look very aerodynamic!

Show notes still have to be added.
